Small Via ferrata - Rasnoavei Gorges - video

Small Via ferrata - Rasnoavei Gorges - videoPlay
In the past few days, it has snowed, so I climbed the two climbing routes in the Rasnoavei Gorge under winter conditions. While the lower part of the challenging Big via ferrata was dry, the upper section had patches of snow and icicles.

At the pendulum, I managed to drop my selfie stick, which I was supposed to use to pull the pendulum cable towards me, so I used the lower cable to continue. At the top of the Big iron path, the wooden cross is missing, it has rotted and fallen over.

The second route of the Rasnoavei Gorge, the Little iron path, is about 100 meters long, and is situated 40 meters high on the rock face. It ends in free space, so I climbed back and forth. From the endpoint, it is likely possible to rappel down, provided you bring the appropriate equipment and rope.

On the Little via ferrata, I had to be cautious of mud as well. The handholds are relatively far apart, which could be a problem for shorter climbers. Due to its exposure and route layout, I categorize it among the more difficult via ferratas.
