This year, the Hot Air Balloon Parade was organized in Campu Cetatii for the tenth time. Unfortunately, the weather only allowed for flying on Saturday morning and evening.

The Heart of Jesus look-out - Lupeni 38.46 km away
Through the mud on Gordon Mountain, above Farkaslaka (Lupeni commune, Harghita county, Transilvania), on a cloudy afternoon, at the end of February. The destination is the Heart of Jesus lookout, nicknamed as Pléhkrisztus (The Tin Christ).

With snowshoes in the Tihu creek valley - Rastolita 46.21 km away
We met geotrekking treasure hunters from Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc and Targu Mures in Rastolita. We entered the Calimani Mountains with an off-road vehicle, along the Rastolita and Tihu streams. As it turned out, the well-worn forest road can also be traveled by car for a good distance.

Pricske peak - Giurgeu Mountains 48.71 km away
If we want to reach Pricske (Prisca) peak, which rises above Gheorgheni and Lazarea, we start from the valley of the Güdüc (Ghidut) stream. Our path leads us past the ruins of a building known as the White House.

Iron path - Harghita-Madaras 50.71 km away
Amateur filming in Harghita-Madaras, holding the camera by hand in the car, and helmet-mounted on the via ferrata. I climbed an iron path for the first time in my life on the Nyerges cliffs (Stancile Seii), I didn't have the right equipment yet. That's where I fell in love with climbing.

The second cave open to the public, of Schönbergalm above Obertraun am Hallstättersee, is the Ice Cave (Rieseneishöhle). For me, it was more spectacular than the Mammoth Cave.

In the Padurea Craiului Mountains, near Rosia, in the Farcu bauxite mine, in 1987, the miners accidentally discovered a cave. It was filled with crystal-shaped limestone formations.

Rosina Klettersteig Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 857.44 km away
The Rosina Klettersteig is the most difficult via ferrata in the Silberkar gorge, has a D difficulty rating, and it is a vertical masterpiece. After a short suspension bridge above the stream, it leads up the rock wall next to the gorge waterfall, all the way vertically.

Perhaps the most interesting via ferrata among the routes in the Baia de Fier area is the Womens Spiral. After completing it, I can say that it is the second most thrilling via ferrata in Romania, following the Big Via Ferrata at Rasnov.

During the hike in Trift Valley, I experienced cloudy and gloomy weather with intermittent rain. Here is the 170 m long Trift Bridge, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Swiss Alps, in a breathtaking environment, 100 meters above the Trift Glacier Lake.

Schulter Anstieg klettersteig Hoher Dachstein, Austria 865.46 km away
Two iron paths lead to the top of the Hoher Dachstein. The Randkluft is shorter, but can only be reached through a glacier with cracks. It is dangerous to reach the starting point, that's probably why it was closed now.

Siega Klettersteig Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 857.86 km away
The Siega Klettersteig, categorized as a C/D level of difficulty, is perhaps the least interesting of the three via ferratas in the Silberkarklamm gorge. This doesn't mean that it's not good, just that the other two are even better. :-)

The Dachstein Gams is a new via ferrata route on Krippenstein. It has three parts: Himmeleck (A/B), Gams (C), and Nordwand (E). Because it was my first time here, I only completed the first two sections.

Muierii Cave Baia de Fier 191.91 km away
We visited the Baia de Fier area, and climbed on the rock that also conceals the Women's Cave (Pestera Muierilor). Between two via ferrata routes, we also participated in one of the guided cave tours, which depart every hour.

Wild Ferenc memorial path Suhardul Mic 62.29 km away
In recent days, this news has been everywhere: the via ferrata route built on the southwest wall of Suhardul Mic (Little Suhard) has finally been completed and inaugurated. The new route has been named after Ferenc Wild, in memory of the former mountain rescuer, sports writer, and one of the founders of the mountain rescue association in Gheorgheni.

Spirala Medie iron path Baia de Fier 191.91 km away
In May 2018, two new via ferrata routes were inaugurated in Baia de Fier. Both start from section G of the rock face hiding the Muierilor Cave, and their initial stages are shared. The Bear's Jump (in Romanian, Saritoarea Ursului) leads vertically upwards. The Middle Belt or Middle Spiral (in Romanian, Spirala Medie) connects the former to the Big Spiral via ferrata route.
