Lake Bohinj, also known as Bohinjsko jezero in Slovene and Wocheiner See in German, is the biggest permanent lake in Slovenia, covering a vast area of 318 hectares. Situated in the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps, in the northwestern region of Upper Carniola (Gorenjska, Alta Carniola, Oberkrain), it forms a part of the Triglav National Park.

The lake stretches for about 4.2 kilometers in length, and has a maximum width of 1 kilometer. It is a glacial lake, created by a moraine (unconsolidated debris, carried along by a glacier or ice sheet). Interestingly, more water flows out of Lake Bohinj than enters it, and this can be attributed to underground water sources.

One of the major tributaries feeding Lake Bohinj is the Savica, which originates from Black Lake, the lowest-lying lake in the Triglav Lakes Valley. Flowing out from the eastern end of the lake is the Jezernica creek, which later combines with the Mostnica to form the Sava Bohinjka. Eventually, these waters join the Sava Dolinka, and become part of the larger Sava River.

Due to its natural beauty and recreational opportunities, the lake is a popular destination for day trips, offering activities like swimming and various water sports. Located on the shore of the lake, stands a statue dedicated to the legendary Goldhorn (Zlatorog) chamois. This mythical creature's tale has been immortalized by the poet Rudolf Baumbach.

Hias Klettersteig - Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 129.67 km away
The Hias Klettersteig in the Silberkarklamm gorge is the first of the three via ferrata routes, and perhaps the easiest to complete. Two cable bridges and a few trickier sections make it interesting, but it is truly impressive due to the view of the narrow gorge.
Rosina Klettersteig - Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 129.77 km away
The Rosina Klettersteig is the most difficult via ferrata in the Silberkar gorge, has a D difficulty rating, and it is a vertical masterpiece. After a short suspension bridge above the stream, it leads up the rock wall next to the gorge waterfall, all the way vertically.
Siega Klettersteig - Silberkarklamm, Ramsau am Dachstein 130.49 km away
The Siega Klettersteig, categorized as a C/D level of difficulty, is perhaps the least interesting of the three via ferratas in the Silberkarklamm gorge. This doesn't mean that it's not good, just that the other two are even better. :-)
