Corcoaia Gorges - Gorj county 18.45 km away
The Corcoaia Gorge is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the Cerna Valley. It can be reached by car, 43 km away from Baile Herculane, of which about 17 km is on a dusty gravel road. The spectacular part of the gorge is relatively short, about 300 m.
Billy-goat lake, Closed Gates - Retezat Mountains 46.28 km away
The most unique ridge trail of the Retezat Mountains is the Closed Gates.
Sheepdogs - Govora sheepfold - Retezat mountains 50.14 km away
On the second day of my weekend Retezat hike, I visited a sheepfold on the Lancita Ridge. To my great disappointment, they didn't make cheese or curd here. The owners sell the more special types of sheep and rams in the autumn.
Rudariei watermills - Eftimie Murgu 53.59 km away
I have visited the twenty-two wooden water mills with horizontal wheels, located in the valley of the Rudaria stream, mostly in the rain and under an umbrella. Some of them are still in use today. In 1874, there were still fifty such water mills operating in the village.
Crivadia Gorges 64.36 km away
The Crivadia Gorge is located next to the village of Crivadia, which belongs to Banita. Access is difficult, and the hike is made through the streambed, with water up to the waist at its narrowest point.

SkiGyimes ski slope Lunca de Sus 301.42 km away
It is well-known that in Rimetea, due to the Piatra Secuiului (Szekler's Rock) mountain, the Sun rises twice. However, perhaps few know that in Lunca de Sus, the Sun sets three times. :-) This can be experienced on the Ski Gyimes slopes during the afternoon skiing.
Stan Valley Canyon in winter 150.45 km away
The Stan Valley is a picturesque canyon, even in winter. In fact, when the stream is frozen and covered with a layer of snow, exploring the canyon becomes much quicker and easier. During this time, we can also access areas that were unreachable in the summer, due to high water levels.
Via ferrata Ernesto Che Guevara Italia 927.83 km away
The Che Guevara via ferrata is the longest iron climbing route I have ever climbed. There is a 1400 m level difference from the starting point to the peak of Monte Casale.
Les Gorges de la Méouge France 1342.79 km away
Following today's climb, I experienced the soothing pleasure of immersing myself in the turquoise waters of the Méouge creek, in the pond beneath a waterfall. If you find yourself in Sisteron or Grenoble, do not miss the opportunity to explore the magnificent Méouge valley near Ribiers. And do not leave your swimwear behind.
Aareschlucht Meiringen-Innertkirchen, Switzerland 1141.55 km away
The Aareschlucht is a 1400-meter long, 200-meter deep gorge of the Aare river, near Innertkirchen, Switzerland. It has two entrances, one from Meiringen in the west, and one from Innertkirchen in the east, which lead into the narrow, but stunning gorge.
Trift valley, bridge, lake and glacier Gadmen, Switzerland 1130.67 km away
During the hike in Trift Valley, I experienced cloudy and gloomy weather with intermittent rain. Here is the 170 m long Trift Bridge, the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Swiss Alps, in a breathtaking environment, 100 meters above the Trift Glacier Lake.
Pricske peak Giurgeu Mountains 299.19 km away
If we want to reach Pricske (Prisca) peak, which rises above Gheorgheni and Lazarea, we start from the valley of the Güdüc (Ghidut) stream. Our path leads us past the ruins of a building known as the White House.
Poenari citadel Arges valley 152.56 km away
The Poenari citadel is located on the southern slope of the Fagaras Mountains, on the western side of the Transfagaras road, in the Arges Valley, about 4 km from the Vidraru Lake dam. Along a steep incline, a concrete staircase leads up to the castle, which is built atop a mountain. It is said that one must climb 1,480 steps, though we didn't count. :-)
Walking to the top of Sumuleul Mare Sumuleu Ciuc 284.97 km away
This was my first attempt at shooting a video.
Mürren-Gimmelwald Klettersteig Switzerland 1164.88 km away
The Mürren-Gimmelwald Klettersteig is a relatively new via ferrata route in Switzerland, located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It is moderately difficult, but incredibly scenic. Unusually, you don't climb upwards here, but rather descend.
Ski resort Poiana Brasov Postavarul Mountains 228.18 km away
Shining sun and an Austria-feeling on the impeccable slopes of the ski paradise Poiana Brasov above Brasov. Sunbathing, coffee and refreshing drinks on the terrace of Julius Römer chalet.
Wild Ferenc iron path Suhardul Mic 309.94 km away
While I climbed the new iron path mostly in the dark for the first time, this time I managed to explore it during the day. But I still missed the sunset by a few minutes.
Varghis gorges in winter 256.7 km away
I went out to admire the ice stalagmites (standing icicles) in the Varghis Gorge. Anyone arriving here at the end of winter can observe meter-high ice stalagmites in the entrance area of Meresti Cave (now known as Orban Balazs Cave).
Hili cove iron path Turda Gorges 190.5 km away
While the first time I climbed this via ferrata in the morning, now I climbed it in the light of the setting sun. The red-dressed rocks created a special atmosphere, and I could admire the sunset from the top of the climbing route. Although I prefer the sunrise more, because it lasts longer. :-)
L'Escale á Peille iron path Alpes-Maritimes, France 1225.53 km away
One of the challenging via ferratas in the Maritime Alps is the L'Escale a Peille. One of its elements is a steel cobweb, where you can feel like you're hanging in the air.
